Richard Rawlins was Bishop of St David's[1] between the years 1523 and 1536. He had previously been Warden of Merton College, Oxford, where he was known for selling land designated for the completion of a cruciform chapel for the establishment of Corpus Christi College (as a result the chapel remains T-shaped and set an example for the shape of subsequent college chapels). He was also a Fellow of Merton College, and a prebendary of St Paul's Cathedral.
